Helmet for Skull Canvas

I was asked to paint up a helmet for the Skull Canvas show that happened in early October. Skull Canvas was at Barber Motorsports Park during the Vintage Motorcycle Festival.

This is a Biltwell Helmet, size small, painted up with 1-Shot Lettering Enamel.

Top/front of helmet. My homage to Von Dutch’s Flying Eye. I know the flying eye has been around for millennia, but has the significance of Von Dutch in the pinstripers and hot rodders circles.

Flying Eye, part of the wing, and the pinstriping on the top.

Left Wing.

Right Wing

Pinstriping in the negative space between flying eye and skull. Notice the red spatter? That was all done with diluted 1-Shot and a toothbrush. It was a very Dexter-esque moment.

Skull at the back of the helmet. Imagine this staring at you as you follow its rider down the street.

There were about 50 helmets on display at the show. I wasn’t there, but I saw some pictures. There were some AMAZING helmets at the show.
